“The Forest” Game Review

David Sanchez

The Forest is a survival game that has some elements of horror in it. You play as a father who with his son gets stuck on an island because of a plane crash. On this island you will fight off starvation thirst and the elements of the wild. Not only do you fight nature to survive there are also angry, crazy people on the island. Your first days on the island you will only see glimpse of these people but once you get set up with a cabin you built of the trees you chop down they will start to patrol around your camp and sometimes even try to take you out.

The more days you survive the more dangerous they become more aggressive and stronger going from starving to pale white skinned to having bluish skin and wearing masks made from the faces of their past victims and they are extremely terrifying but they aren’t even the worst ones. Around surviving three weeks on the island you will encounter strange mutants that are absolutely terrifying from a giant spider looking mutant to a lumbering 4 arm crazy mutant that absolutely can destroy your whole camp in minutes. There is a story to follow but where the game shines is with the survival aspects.

This game is extremely fun with friends going up to four people. If having the single player being a horror game the multiplayer is like a cheesy funny horror flick. The character movement looks wonky but it just adds to the charm of the game and it looks hilarious. If you have a four man squad you can get things done fast but that doesn’t mean the game is easier, I think it’s harder because if you and your friends are just having fun you might have to survive not only the crazy people but also your friends. Me and three of my friends kept messing with each other by stealing others food or water and even throwing dynamite at each other. I was in more danger with my friends than with the crazy mutants. If you like survival games I absolutely recommend this game
