Ancient Powers Reawaken! Who’s ready to Catch Em All… again! November 24th, 2014, Pokemon: Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby for the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS was released as a remake of the original Pokemon: Ruby and Sapphire released in 2003. The gameplay to the game is almost exactly the same with overhead perspective and the controls being the same except for the touch screen on the bottom half of the DS.
The main objectives of the game is to defeat the Elite Four, a group of Pokemon trainers, and catch all the pokemon. As for the plot, it had to be expanded to encompass the discovery of “Mega Stones” to mega evolve your pokemon. Steven Stone, a master steel-type trainer and the son of the president of Devon Corporation in the game, can no longer be encountered before beating Brawly, the gym leader in Dewford Town, because of flash no longer being an HM (Hidden Machine). The two legendary pokemon the game revolves around, Kyogre and Groudon, have an all new power up similar to the mega evolution which puts them in their “Primal state”. Instead of using the “energy” of people and pokemon, their power revolves around nature energy.
Because the two games being opposite, Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, there are version-exclusive pokemon which are usually their “duos” or “opposites.” For example, Omega Ruby has the pokemon “Ho-Oh” and Alpha Sapphire would have “Lugia” as its opposite.
After completing the “Delta Episode”, it is possible to get both the “Acro” and “Mach bike”, after you talk to three specific people to “advertise” the bike. The “Acro bike” allows you to do tricks such as wheelies and bunny hops to get to certain areas of the game. The “Mach bike” allows players to go faster than the Acro as well as go up muddy slopes and even go over cracked tiles, if you can get enough momentum. With the famous slow walking/running in the Pokemon games, these bike truly help you get through the game faster.
This Pokemon game is truly a must have for all Pokemon fanatics out there. It is like a blast from the past as well as a step into the future of Pokemon.
