Movie Review – The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

One the most iconic films to have ever been made, based on real life events; ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’, directed by Tobe Hooper, is a well known slasher film that took the world by storm. The film focuses on the embark of a group of friends and two siblings traveling to see their grandfather’s grave after hearing that it was vandalized. The group take a detour to the families old farm house that later unravels to them being picked off one by one by a family of cannibals and a chainsaw welling maniac also known as The Chainsaw Massacre.

Director Tobe Hooper brought such like and real life striking horror on the big screen. The cinematography of the land and scenery was very beautiful, the scenery distracts you from what is to come. I enjoyed the acting because sometimes the acting can really take you out of the illusion while watching the movie. Now let’s talk about special effects, AMAZING. The movie is very gruesome from beginning to end but it definitely has some of the best effects for the early years of horror movies. The visuals for the special effects when Franklin is chainsawed in the wheel car were amazing.

The film however, got mixed reviews. A lot of the negative reviews were saying that they found the film boring and had to force themselves to pay attention. On the other hand, people were praising it for being a true “Screamer” because of the graphic violence. The other positive reviews were how Hooper used a concept of real life horror and made it more terrifying than it needs to be. I personally think that the movie is great and probably would watch it again, it’s definitely a movie you could watch with friends if you are looking for some cheap thrills.
