Mario Themed Splatfest arrives at Inktopolis!
September 18, 2020
With Mario’s 35th anniversary on the 18th of September Nintendo has already announced the dozens of ways this special occasion will be celebrated. One of them being a Mario themed Splatfest for Splatoon 2 in January of 2021! The options for this Splatfest are either sizing up with a Super Mushroom or run into enemies with a Super Star!
First off for people who are unaware, Splatfest is an event in Splatoon 2 that was supposedly to have come to an end. Once a month players are given two choices to choose from and on the weekend battle other players to help their team win while Off the Hook make a performance in Inkopolis Square. In July of 2019 Nintendo claimed that there would be no more Splatfests but lately there’s been redos of old Splatfests!
Now although the Super Star is likely to be the most popular seeing as you gain invincibility from it while you just grow larger with a Super Mushroom, these two power-ups can actually show a bit of who you are as a person. The Super Star is for people who can be reckless considering the fact that this power-up has you just carelessly running into enemies while the Super Mushroom is for people who are more responsible since you have to be careful not to get hit by enemies or you’ll go back to your original height in the Mario games.
Another thing to add is that you can buy physical Splatfest T-Shirts online on the My Nintendo store. In addition you can also get Splatfest keychains as a reward for 100 platinum points on your My Nintendo account. It may still be awhile until the Splatfest actually starts but that won’t stop fans of the games showing their enthusiasm and support!
