Flappy Bird is a mobile game that people all over the world seem to be addicted too. This simple yet frustrating game was created in Hanoi by Vietnam-based developer Nguyễn Hà Đông (Dong Nguyen) and published by .GEARS studio. This game was the most downloaded game in the app store,7th game to be downloaded and was earning around $50,000 a day in revenue.
This game was originally released on May 24, 2013 with the support of the iPhone 5, it later then became available for Android on January 20, 2014.
The objective of this game was to keep the bird flying endlessly to the right, to not run into any of the pipes, which otherwise ends the game. The bird briefly flaps upward each time the player taps the screen, and the player is scored on the number of pipe sets the bird successfully passes through.
On February 8, 2014, Nguyen tweeted that the game was to be removed in the next 22 hours on Apple’s App Store and Google Play. “I am sorry Flappy Bird users, 22 hours from now, I will take Flappy Bird down. I cannot take this anymore”. Because the creator of Flappy Bird deleted the game, many media outlets reported that several merchants on eBay were offering phones that had the app pre-installed for up to $900 or more.
