Warm Bodies brings a whole new twist on the usual over the top gore, Hollywood zombie movie. UK’s Skins very own Nicholas Hoult who plays “R” brings intrigue, compassion & romance to the big screen, along with breakout star Annaleigh Tipton who plays “Nora,” as well as a brief appearance by dreamboat Dave Franco who plays “Perry.”
“R” mopes around a post-apocalyptic America, grunting up a storm all day everyday with his bestie “M,” played by Rob Corrdry. While on a human scavenger hunt with his fellow zombie brethren, he feels a sudden heartbeat at the sight of Nora. Love. Sweet love has been found. That being so, “R” manages to save Nora from not only the other zombies, but from Bonies too (Zombies who have given up on their humanity entirely.) They also run incredibly fast. The change in “R” ends up changing all the zombies and they start to remember, gain feelings and all that crazy stuff humans can do. “R” then takes Nora into his care and ultimately, they save each other from the difficulties the remaining humans bring and the stubborn Bonies who do not approve of the rapid change whatsoever.
This quirky, much needed change from the typical zombie-eats-human plot line tore at my heartstrings but more than that, gave me the giggles. I found Warm Bodies to be an eccentric, goofy, and clever movie–a must see for all you kind-hearted humans.
