Watch it go down as Ms. Tapia takes on Post Malone in a game of ‘Rock-Paper-Scissors’!

San Bernardino, CA—Most of us go to concerts with fantasies about meeting our favorite musicians and celebrities. On Aug. 19, Colton High English teacher Candice Tapia’s fantasy became a reality.

Tapia had a strange yet exciting encounter with the pop icon Post Malone after his massive concert at the Glen Helen Amphitheater. She won Post Malone’s left shoe in an epic match of “Rock-Paper-Scissors.”

Post Malone was in the Inland Empire for the last stop on the U.S. leg of his “If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying” tour in support of his current album, “Austin.”

Most artists of Post Malone’s stature don’t even think of coming to the Inland Empire when planning a tour. So when Post Malone came to the IE, many local natives hopped at the opportunity to go to his concert. That included Tapia and her wife, Arlene.

Tapia says, “This was my third time seeing him in concert and he never disappoints. He is a great performer who is constantly thanking his fans for their love and support.”

After witnessing Post’s stellar performance, Posty came down to the fans in the pit to sign autographs and take pictures.  Tapia caught his attention with a sign she made that said “Rock Paper Scissors for your shoes.”

Posty, who was only wearing one shoe at the time, found her and corrected, “Rock, paper, scissors for shoe.” Malone was only wearing his left shoe at the time because he took off the right one during the last song of his set to play the guitar with his foot.

Tapia won the rock paper scissors match and Post Malone kept his end of the bargain, giving her his shoe, a white Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star, also known as a “Chuck.” To sweeten the victory, Post Malone autographed the shoe, too.

“It was cool because I felt like I had a moment with him, just playing a game,” said Tapia. “But I was so shocked that when people around asked me what I shot—rock paper or scissors—I couldn’t even remember. I had to go back and watch the video.”
