San Bernardino, CA—After three years, Colton and Pacific High held a rematch at Pacific, and the result was the same for the Yellowjackets: a 3-0 sweep of the Pirates.
“I needed this,” said head coach Blanca Ascencio after the game.
In the first set, Colton focused and wiped the deck with the Pirates, winning 15-8. Keeping up the momentum, they held strong as the Pirates showed some fight, taking the second set 25-16. In the final set, the Pirates couldn’t find any answers and the Yellowjackets finished the sweep, 25-13.
Standouts for the Yellowjackets included Alejandra Flores, whose aggression led to timely hits, and Adrianna Silva with her strong sets and attacks.
Ascencio attributed the team’s victory to putting in the work. “Play hard and play how they know how to play,” she said.
Colton is now 1-1 on the young season. They lost on Tuesday to Canyon Springs High.
Tomorrow, Colton will clash with the Ramona Rams. Last Year, the Rams went 7-12 overall, while in league went 4-6. They are currently 0-1 on the season, losing their first match to San Gorgonio 3-0 on Tuesday.
JV plays at 4:00 pm, and Varsity plays 5:15 pm.
Note: JV played their second match of the season against Pacific and won 3-0.
