Colton, CA—This has been a season to remember for the Yellowjackets. Last night they celebrated the conclusion of their regular season league home schedule with senior night, and made sure to chalk up another victory over the San Gorgonio Spartans.
The game was a 13-1 blowout, with the bulk of the damage done during a nine-run third inning. Sophomore Andrea Varela hit two home runs during the inning, including the first of back-to-back homers with teammate Stephanie De La Cruz, and a three-run blast that put the game out of reach for the Spartans.
Senior Jasmine De La Rosa earned the victory, giving up only a single run and two hits. She struck out seven and walked none. She also made sure to help herself out on the offensive side, too, going 1-for-3 with a double that narrowly missed turning into a home run.
The Yellowjackets are now 7-0 in league and 19-3 overall. The team travels to Bloomington tomorrow to close out their league schedule before taking on Lancaster at home on Thursday, and finishing the regular season against Arrowhead Christian on Friday. Next week is the league tournament.
