Colton High’s women’s tennis team fought hard against all adversity after experiencing both high’s and lows during their senior night. The Yellowjacks went up against Jurupa Hills in a league rival classic.
Players Feelings
With so much on the line and all eyes on the seniors the team had more than a few things to say about their special night. “Really nervous but tonight is gonna be really sad though because everyone is so nice,” Jacqueline Medina said.
Team captain Esperanza Ventura said, “Focus is what we’re gonna need to win the game tonight” She stated like her teammates she was also very excited for the moment and looked to capitalize on the opportunity.
Coach’s Point of View
With a eventful day Coach Omar had only a couple of comments to share about the senior evening.
“We made the day as special as we could; even had some good happy tears,” he said.
But Coach Omar wasn’t just looking forward to senior night. He is also looking forward to something a little more important: CIF Individual Playoffs.
“I hope we can send at least one singles and one doubles team to the second round. That is the ultimate goal.”
Two Future Stars
With the seniors’ last couple of games closing in the future of this women’s tennis program, Ailyn Lopez and Mia Morales chime in on what they learned from this season and what they look forward to in the future.
“I’m very excited to dominate these next two years,” Lopez said.
Morales took a different approach. “I wanna show what women’s tennis is made out of.”
Both superstars are ready to get back to league champ status next year.
