Boys Soccer draws its first opponent in CIF playoffs

Colton, CA—The Yellowjackets have their first opponent.

On Thursday, they will face the Palm Desert Aztecs at Colton High. On Tuesday, Palm Desert eliminated Yucaipa in the division 5 wild card round, 1-0.

Palm Desert finished their season with a 12-5-3 record, placing second in the Desert Empire League. They are led by senior striker Tristan Mulahusejnovic (1.1 goals per game, 42 points overall), and senior goalkeeper Diego Esparza (6.1 saves per game).

Last week, Colton defeated Jurupa Hills for the San Andreas League title, earning an automatic CIF playoff bid in division 5. They ended the season 15-6-2. Seniors Yahir Rodriguez (1.3 goals per game) and Miguel Marcelo (1.1 goals per game) lead the Yellowjacket offense. On defense, they are powered by a dominant midfield featuring Julio Soberanes and Manuel Alonso and anchored by goalkeeper Ulises Castillo-Reyes (2.3 saves per game).
