For many, the number 13 brings nothing but bad luck. This superstition goes all the way back to Norse mythology and the trickery of the mischievous Loki.

Not that the Yellowjackets much care. Last Friday was just a bad day overall as none of the basketball and soccer teams could find the win column against their opponents.

Both basketball teams traveled up to Lake Arrowhead for a league matchup against Rim of the World High School. The boys team, wracked with injuries and a depleted roster, were beat by the undefeated Flying Scots, 75-40.

The girls team, having lost four of their last five games, also lost to the last place Rim of the World, 51-35. Savannah Govea, in a bit of a slump the last few games, broke out with 14 points and 5 steals.

The Yellowjacket soccer program has been having a lot of success recently, but Friday was not their day for victory against non-league rival Bloomington High School. The boys traveled to Bloomington, and tied up the Bruins, 3-3.

The girls, meanwhile, faced the Bruins at home. They only suited up 12 players on Friday, with their most impactful offensive players out with injury. Despite the challenge, Colton played tough, only losing 1-0.

The teams all return to action this Wednesday, Jan. 18. Both basketball teams play San Gorgonio, with the girls getting the home game. And both soccer teams take on Eisenhower, with the boys playing at home.
