Colton, CA—The Yellowjacket tennis team kept up its winning ways over the weekend, defeating both Grand Terrace last Friday, and Eisenhower on Monday. The two victories make them winners of 6 of their last 7 matches, and put them at 5-1 in Sunkist League play and 6-5 overall.

Colton defeated its district rivals 14-4, and swept Eisenhower 18-0.

Both of the matches ended with Emily Ramirez, Shantel Marentes, and Kimberly Emilio dominating all three of their sets for both games.

At Grand Terrace on Friday, the doubles teams won five sets, led by the team of Valeria Pech and Hazel Macias. Jasmin Almazan/Natalie Diaz, and Ashley Galvan/Cecilia Flores also won multiple sets.

On Monday, the Yellowjackets traveled to Eisenhower High to face the Eagles, and simply dominated. Every player swept their sets. “It was pretty easy,” Kimberly Emilio said. “I had mistakes here and there, but technique-wise I did better.”

The Yellowjackets have three matches left for the season before League prelims. They play Carter High today in Rialto.
