Colton shows improvement against Jurupa Hills in league matchup
Team gets set wins in both singles and doubles, with Adrian Colunga winning two
Colton, CA—Last week, the Yellowjackets men’s tennis team went 2-1 in three consecutive games against non-league opponents. Today, they faced off against league opponents, Jurupa Hills, who won the last match 16 sets to 2 on March 8.
While the result was still a loss, the Yellowjackets took two more sets from the Spartans, who won 14-4.
Adrian Colunga continued his strong play, winning two sets, 6-4, 6-3, 2-6. Andrew Diaz struggled today, going 0-6, 2-6, 0-6. And Jordan Dubon played his first full match as a singles player, dropping straight sets 1-6, 0-6, 1-6.
For the doubles, the team of Joel Matias and Myles Garza took a set, going 1-6, 2-6, 6-1. Angel Orellana and Ja’len Terry also won a set, scoring 0-6, 1-6, 6-4. Anthony Castellanos and Tyler Morales lost in straight sets 0-6, 0-6, 2-6.
The team has three more matches before the Arrowhead Athletic Conference prelims on April 27. Thursday they travel to Grand Terrace to serve up the Titans.
