Seven CHS swimmers qualify for CIF
Five girls and two boys achieve qualifying times at the Chaffey Invitational
Ontario, CA—Seven Colton High swimmers posted CIF qualifying times at the Chaffey Invitational, held at Chaffey High School on March 12.
Brooke Carlson, August Castillo, Kaila Garcia, La’Niece Pacheco, Mariah Perez, Isaiah Ramirez, and Xavier Rocha earned qualifying times in Division 4 of the Southern Section.
On the boys’ side, Ramirez and Rocha both received CIF consideration times for their main events. Ramirez swam the boys 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:17.01. Rocha qualified with a time of 1:19.04.
Rocha also received CIF consideration for his time of 2:40.89 in the boys 200 Individual Medley.
For the girls, The 200 Medley Relay team of Brooke Carlson (backstroke), August Castillo (breaststroke), Mariah Perez (butterfly), and La’Niece Pacheco (freestyle), received qualification consideration for their time of 2:30.62.
Pacheco, Carlson, and Perez also achieved qualifying times in the girls 100 Butterfly event. Pacheco led the pack with a time of 1:25.10, with Carlson on her heels at 1:25.45, and Perez right with them at 1:26.86.
In the girls 200 Freestyle Relay, the team of Kaila Garcia, August Castillo, La’Niece Pacheco, and Brooke Carlson qualified for CIF consideration with a time of 2:12.20.
In CIF, those who achieve the automatic qualifiers will be entered into their selected event. Any remaining spaces, up to 36 participants, are based on the consideration times.
Correction (Mar. 16, 11:20 p.m.): Pepper Bough misreported that Isaiah Ramirez and Xavier Rocha received automatic qualifying in CIF with their times in the 100 Backstroke and 100 Breaststroke, respectively. Both earned consideration times. The story has been updated to reflect the correct information.
Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
