Yellowjackets sting Eagles in softball beatdown, 13-3

Strong play all around the lineup leads to big victory in first Arrowhead Conference game of the season

Zerena Acevedo only gave up four hits in four innings in the Yellowjackets’ 13-3 victory over the Eisenhower Eagles.

Colton, CA—The Lady Yellowjackets needed a home game. With six of their first eight games on the road, they have struggled. Their only victories have come on their home diamond, where they had yet to give up a run.

The home win streak continued today against the Eisenhower Eagles in the first game of Arrowhead Conference play. The Lady Yellowjackets crushed the Eagles, 13-3.

Senior Zerena Acevedo pitched a strong game on the mound, throwing four innings and giving up only four hits. She also contributed to her cause by going 3-for-3 with three RBIs.

Other notables were Danielle Campa (2-3, 2 RBIs), Alexia Castor (3-3, 3 RBIs), and Susana Corbeton (2-3, 2 RBIs).

Head coach Chris Reyes was glad for the win, and was quite succinct when summing up the reason for the team’s success today. “Team energy,” he said.

The Lady Yellowjackets head to Colony High School on Friday to take on the Titans in a non-league game.
