Tryout for Lions Speech Club Competition

Students encouraged to tryout for Lions Club event between Jan. 27-31.

Lion’s Club Speech competition tryouts are here.

Colton, CA—The Lions Club speech competition is coming. The contest will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 13. The subject: “AI: Friend or Foe?”

Tryouts will be held from Jan. 27-31 after scchool in room 351. Six winners will be selected to be part of the Lions Club team.

Contest winners will receive cash prizes; the amounts are still to be announced. Stay tuned.

Speech must be between 5-10 minutes long, the written transcript a minimum of five paragraphs, and include at least three pieces of evidence. Speech advisor, Ms. Lucy Leyva said, “Remember: You can’t have an argument without specific evidence and credible sources.”

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!

Tyler Morales is a sophomore attending Colton High School. He writes for the Pepper Bough and involves himself around different activities at the school. He enjoys reading, playing instruments, and writing. In his spare time his hobbies consist of cooking and cleaning, that is if his homework isn't already sucking up all his beloved free time.
