Colton, CA—Tassels turned, fireworks lit, and pictures snapped for the class of 2025 at Colton High on the football field where Graduation was held on May 22, 2025.
To prepare for Graduation, Seniors had practice the day before where they were informed about parking, tickets, diplomas, and how the graduation itself would go.
At practice, Seniors were able to choose their seats as Principal of Colton High John Abbott expressed to the Seniors about how he wants them to enjoy where they sit, but they have to be respectful and refrain from shouting or doing inappropriate things.
The Seniors also learned the order in which they walked, waiting for their entire row to sit, they also had to pose with whichever person handed them their diploma to take a picture, before going back to their row.
At Graduation, Seniors were expected to show up at five where they were checked in, searched and given tables full of snacks for them to enjoy.
Seniors took time to get photos with their friends, enjoy food, and speak to the teachers that impacted their lives.
Senior at Colton High Ash Mendoza said, “I’m proud, especially after four years of nothing but working nonstop so it finally paid off.”
Each Senior received six tickets and were allowed to purchase an additional four tickets priced at $10 each. For families that could not attend Graduation, they were able to watch it on a livestream with a link to the stream provided in an email by Assistant Principal Erica Macdonald.
Other people to receive seats at Graduation were the dignitaries in Colton along with the top 20 Juniors known as the Honor Guard.
One of the Honor Guard Members and Junior at Colton High Keana Pacheco said, “It’s kind of crazy knowing that we’re gonna be like those people next year graduating, I’m nervous for it, but it’ll be fun.”
After Graduation, Seniors got in line to receive their actual diplomas and as they exited the Ken Hubbs Gym they were greeted by their families with loud cheers after twelve years of their dedication.
