Colton, CA—It’s that time, Seniors. School is done. Grad Nite is almost here. Senior breakfast and grad walks at your former elementary schools are just around the corner.
And the graduation ceremony is less than a week away.
CHS’ graduation ceremony is scheduled for May 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. Here are some helpful details you and your family need to know before the big day.
Graduates are to arrive at 5:00 p.m. at the entrance to the Yellowjacket Bridge on Rancho Ave. They will cross the bridge to check-in at the Hubbs Gym.
Rancho Ave. will be closed from 5:00-8:30 p.m. The parking lot at the Hubbs Gym will be open only to handicapped parking as the lot will be used for guest entrance when the gates open at 6:00 p.m.
Graduates are required to put on their gowns after check in due to safety precautions. Decorative graduation caps are not allowed. Any alcohol, weapons, tobacco or drugs are prohibited. Any student caught in possession of these items will be removed from the graduation event.
Distracting items, such as balloons, noisemakers and strollers are not permitted in the stadium. Families bringing these to the gates will be asked to return these items to their vehicles before being permitted to enter. Support animals are not allowed, unless owners maintain prior authorization from administration.
Seniors will receive six graduation tickets at Senior Breakfast on May 20. Additional tickets will be made available for sale for $10 each. Families are limited to purchasing four additional tickets.
To make the experience more fun for graduates, they have been allowed to determine the seating arrangement in advance. Families are asked to check in with their graduate after graduation practice on May 21 to find out which side of the field they should sit for proximity.
“The expectations for graduates is to have fun, be respectful to others and arrive on time,” said assistant principal Eric Mac Donald.
