Homecoming 2023 has been pushed back.

To avoid conflict with Oct. 5’s regulary scheduled school board meeting, Colton High pushed back its annual Homecoming celebration to Oct. 20-21. This decision impacts all Homecoming events including the Homecoming football game, rally, parade, and dance.

The game, halftime King and Queen reveal, rally and parade will happen on Friday, Oct. 20, with the dance taking place Saturday evening, Oct. 21.

Here’s a breakdown of the events and what you need to know:

Homecoming King and Queen Voting

The second round for Homecoming voting, which determines this year’s King and Queen winners, will take place on Oct. 3-4. Ballots will be sent via student email.

Homecoming Rally

The annual Homecoming rally will take place during 6th period on Oct. 20. Wristbands will be distributed in the days leading up to the event.

Homecoming Parade

The annual Homecoming parade, which takes place along Rancho Ave., will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 20. Line-up for students outside Colton Middle School starts at 4:00 p.m. Police will begin shutting down Rancho Ave. from Olive St. to H St. at 4 p.m.

Homecoming Game

This year’s game will be against Arroyo Valley High School. Game time is 7 p.m. Tickets are available on gofan.co. Prices are $9 for general admission, $5 for students under 12 accompanied by an adult. Students with ASB cards enter free.

Homecoming Dance

Homecoming dance ticket sales have been extended through Oct. 4. Tickets cost $40 with an ASB card and $50 without an ASB card. It’s important to note that you also need your permission slip signed by parents/guardians before being allowed to buy a ticket.

The dance will take place from 7-11 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Colton High.

UPDATE [10/3/2023, 9:18 A.M.]: Due to the change in schedule for the annual Homecoming events, the pep rally will now be held during 6th period. The article has been changed to address this new information.

Mark Rodriguez
Mark Rodriguez, Staff Writer
Mark Rodriguez is a sophomore at Colton High School. Other than the fact he is taller than you would expect a 15-year old to be, he's a pretty average high school kid. He tends to get out of line, but he somehow manages to fix that (sometimes). He's "smart" but struggles because of a lack of effort. However, when he tries, he can do excellent work (according to some sources). He likes to make people laugh and smile, but somehow he still struggles to talk to people. This is Mark's second year writing for the Pepper Bough.
