Jamie Santos and the Link Crew team provided study support for freshmen at the annual Cocoa & Cram on Dec. 5-7.

Colton, CA—Finals are soon upon us, and it’s time to start cramming.

For freshmen, this will be their first final exam season at Colton High School.

In response, Link Crew hosted “Cocoa & Cram” after school in the Rivera December 5th through December 7th to help freshman students prepare for their first finals week.

Each day, students were welcomed after school to receive assistance with their homework and help solve any troubles they are having before the start of finals week on Dec. 12. During this time of the year grades are extremely important, and semester grades go on permanent records.

In addition to the academic support, Link Crew served students hot cocoa and a selection of cookies. They even had marshmallows for the cocoa.

Freshman Jennifer Ascencios was positive about the event. “It’s always good to be prepared for your finals and Cocoa & Cram helps you focus. Not many people can focus at home, so this really helps, not just for finals, but also for just doing homework with other students as well.”

Link Crew leaders, especially the seniors, love working with freshmen and want to set a good example for them.

One of the seniors working at Cocoa & Cram was Vincent De Anda. He loves helping freshman because he sees them as the “future” of Colton High School. “They are going to be seniors one day,” he said, “and to carry on helping the lower grades, hoping that we can get them through high school and help them on the way as much as we can.”

Link Crew has been hosting Cocoa & Cram events for over nine years to help freshmen at the end of each semester.

Not only does this year’s Cocoa & Cram continue that streak, but it continues to receive good reviews from its freshman audience.
