The most spoken language in Colton is English and Spanish, with nothing in between. So it shocks most parents and students when they discover that there is a French program you can take at Colton High School. Many students don’t see a need to take French as a foreign language, but many others do. Students who take French class are already fluent in English and Spanish and just feel they can tackle other language.

Madame Vita Chimienti, the only French teacher on the campus teaches French 1, French 2 and French 3 every day in room 608. Although she is not native French (she’s actually Italian) she enjoys very much moldingyoung minds and teaching students the characteristics and forms of the French language.

Many of Madame Chimienti’s students say that to take her class, you cannot slack off one bit and you have to keep your head in the game. Once you start slacking off it’s hard to get back on track. It may be a tough class to overcome but if Spanish and English speakers can do it, then so can anyone else.

So if you’re looking for a language to take, and are looking for a change of pace, try French. S’il vous plait?

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
