Band takes top honors again

Colton High school famous marching band has succeeded in earning top sweepstakes prize at the 115th Annual Golden Dragon Chinese New Year Parade on Saturday, February 2, in Los Angeles. The band was proudly presented at the parade as “The Pride of the Inland Empire.”

They all played enthusiastically and the crowd welcomed and cheered on our marching band. In addition to our bands triumph, Drum Majors Angel Estrada and Samuel Gutierrez won 1st place honors for their brilliant drumming. The crowd was very pleased with their presentation and especially their flamboyant high strides. They were given the top cash prize of $500 for their outstanding performance.

Next month the Colton Band, Guard, and Dance Team will travel to Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles, to perform in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Crowds are welcoming the Colton Band from all over the Inland Empire to play for their parades and events. This is great news for our school band and for the school itself as this will recognize our school as the great school it is. Our city of Colton has such a rich history, as well as our schools band, and it is an honor to share it with the people outside our city. We wish our marching band the best of luck at the next parade they will be attending at Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles.
