Colton High School’s new assistant principals Brian Pope and Tina Petersen are both greatly pleased with their new roles and are also ecstatic about the new school year. Both have the same great views regarding the recovery of our schools overall appearance.

I’m sure there are many questions about what they think will happen this year. Pope, who is an alumnus of Colton High School, said “I’m really excited about this school year;  it’s been goal of mine to be Assistant Principal.” Petersen, who attended Florence High School, and was a former Business Marketing teacher at Colton, says she’s “Happy to be back again.”

When asked about what they want to change about the school year they had very different responses. Petersen said, “I want to support our students; help them with what they want to achieve. I will be very straightforward, be willing to put in time and effort and follow through.”

Pope said, “I don’t want to change anything, I want to take a bit of everything from other Assistant Principals and carry on tradition.”

Pope attended the University of Idaho and Petersen attended the University of Redlands and Cal Poly Pomona (Undergrad) and is going to start her doctorate program shortly at the University of La Verne.

Both are adamant that college was a key part of their education.  Petersen said “College and any kind of education opens up better opportunities.” Pope added, “School welcomed me to the real world. High school didn’t prepare me as much as college did. Graduating from college has helped me become an adult.”

Colton High School is in the hands of two very responsible A.P.’s.

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
