Rebellions In Syria threaten shaky Middle East

Rebellions In Syria threaten shaky Middle East

Over 20,000 Syrians have died in civil war between Syrian citizens and the Syrian military.

The citizens of Syria have been rebelling against their long time president, Bashar al-Assad, and his entire government officials and the fight for freedom is still ongoing. Assad is refusing to step down, despite the fact that most of the Syrian people want him to.

The Syrian rebels started the movements and protests peacefully with petitions and marches but now it has become a civil war between the Syrian citizens and the Syrian military. Assad has ordered the military to throw bombs on entire towns and cities and to shoot people who are against his regime. This has caused the death of over 20,000 people.

Syria’s neighboring countries, Turkey, Jordan, and Lebanon, have opened up their borders to thousands of refugees that are fleeing away from the massive destruction of their country.  Iran is fully supporting Assad and so is China and Russia by stopping the UN to put more pressure on Assad to step down and stop the murder of his own people by voting against the suggestion.

After the beginning of the Arab Spring and Libyan, Egyptian, and Tunisian governments being overthrown, the Syrian people have been inspired to be on the list of newly free Arabic countries.

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
