As Ximena Jimenez’s senior year has come to a close, she’s searched for ways to close it out perfectly; what better way to do it then running for Prom Queen?
Jimenez is quite involved in school and has continuously found ways to bring herself out of her shell over the past four years; by running for prom queen, she’s shown she’s ready to hatch.
“I just did it for myself,” Jimenez replied when asked why she chose to run for prom queen. “I just did it because I wanted to give myself the high school experience.”
She describes herself as being overall introverted, but extroverted around the people she’s closest to.
Just upon having one conversation with her, it’s evident that she’s gone into this entire experience with a humble outlook. “I wasn’t really confident in making court, I just thought “Oh, I’ll just do it for the fun of it.”” she said. She also acknowledged her fellow prom court nominees, saying she knows that they have just as good of a chance as she does at winning.
Despite seeming non-competitive, don’t let Jimenez fool you. She is no stranger to competition. She’s involved in track, cross country, and has been playing soccer since she was around five-years-old.
Not only has soccer been a staple in her life, but she also shared that soccer has been a staple in her family. Essentially her entire family played the sport, so for her to follow in their footsteps just made sense.
Track and cross country came later, and were ways for her to break out of her shell a little bit more. She wasn’t really involved in much during her freshman year.
Another way she got herself involved was by joining Renaissance. She mentioned her friend, Yvette Florez (who happens to be the current Renaissance president) as the one who urged her to join.
Outside of her eventful school life, Jimenez has a pretty peaceful home life.
“If I’m not doing any sports, I like to spend time with my family, my friends, or if it’s a boring day I’ll stay home and just watch movies or listen to music.”
Family is something she values greatly.
“I enjoy finding time to spend with my family, even if it’s just running small errands.”
While she shared that she was surprised she even made court, Jimenez will be just as surprised if she gets to take home the crown.
“Winning to me would just wrap up the whole high school experience. And if I were to win I’d be very surprised because the other girls have a good chance at winning too.”
As she makes her last few high school memories, Jimenez holds her head up high. Not much can get in the way of her enjoying these last few moments she has at CHS and win or lose, Ximena Jimenez will close out with contentment.
