CHS celebrates students’ achievements
Monday, February 27, the student body gathered in the Whitmer Auditorium for the Spring academic assembly. The award ceremony has been rebranded this year, now being called the “Recognition of Excellence Ceremony.” The award ceremony has been expanded to include students with a 4.0 GPA, scholar athletes, students passing AP exams, and Campaign for Excellence recipients.
This minion themed award ceremony was very special for the hive because a very large amount of students received awards that evening, giving CHS a reason to celebrate.
Colton High has several students take Advanced Placement tests every year, and that number continues to increase. During the 2015-2016 school year many CHS test takers passed their exams with a score of a 3 or higher, earning them college credit. This is a huge success for these students but also serves as a reflection of their teachers and supporters.
In addition to the top 10, all four classes have a fairly large amount of students with a 4.0 GPA, and even more students with GPAs between 3.0 and 3.99!
The ceremony, although exciting, was bittersweet because for us seniors it would be the last time we saw our top 10 together on stage until graduation.
Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
