Get ahead or catch up with zero and seventh period

How does taking additional classes to succeed in life sound? Pretty awesome right? Colton High School has been know to offer a zero and seventh period for students that are behind or want to get ahead. This year 2014-15, seventh period has been taken away and now zero period has been the only option for students to catch up or get ahead. Now there is good news for Colton High students that need these extra class because zero as well as seventh period may be available next year (2015-2016).

The benefit of doing these extra classes throughout the year is flexibility, and the opportunity to progress towards graduation or college acceptance. As of now only 11th & 12th graders can get these additional classes, but the district is not fully sure about this decision just yet. If you were to take these extra classes you would have a 50/50 chance in actually being successful in the class. Your success in the class depends on how much responsibility you have to get not only the work in that class done but the work for the other classes you have after.

The people that do take these extra classes slightly get ahead, if they get to their class on time and do their work. The reason schools have trouble offering these extra classes is being able to have teachers to be at the school at these early or late times. Not all teachers can arrive at 6:10 in the morning and not all teachers can stay after school, so many of the schools have trouble making these classes available.

The classes for next years zero and seventh period will most likely be decided by the end of spring break, 2015. If you need to catch up or get ahead in school you should definitely talk to your counselor in the AP office. These classes can be a real game changer in your school grades and being accepted to colleges after graduating. Taking these classes may seem like a lot of work but it will really pay off in the end.

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
