Coffee or tea? Which one is better? What’s the difference? Well actually there’s quite a difference. Even though they both contain caffeine, they differ in benefits.
Health
Coffee: Studies show that people who drink four cups of coffee daily are 30% less at risk of developing type 2 diabetes than non-drinkers. It’s also been shown that men who drink at least three cups of coffee daily are 9% less likely to have skin cancer than those who drink less than one cup monthly.
Tea: It’s well known that antioxidants in green tea can aid in repairing a weak immune system because it has EGCG, which is an antioxidant that aids white blood cells into preventing viruses from reactivating. Tea is also loaded in catechins, powerful antioxidants that could help prevent prostate cancer.
Weight Loss
Coffee: Coffee contains a lot of caffeine and caffeine has been shown to slightly reduce appetite.
Tea: According to a recent American Journal of Clinical Nutrition review, drinking green tea daily could lead to about an inch of your waistline in about 12 weeks. The reason for it, is the EGCG and caffeine in the tea help shrink fat cells and stimulate muscles.
Mood
Coffee: Coffee hasn’t been shown to boost a person’s mood but give energy within the first 10 minutes of consumption.
Tea: Tea has been linked to calming a person’s nerves. According to a recent study published in the European Journal of Applied Physiology jasmine and lavender tea drinkers experienced a decreased heart rate simply by smelling their tea.
