The Plymouth XNR isn’t only a car that was sold at a California classic car auction for $935,000 but it is also the only one ever made! Isn’t that awesome? This one-of-a-kind concept vehicle was made in 1960 and designed by Virgil Exner. It’s wild and out of the usual minds of car makers, the Plymouth XNR is the real deal.
The most amazing fact is that this car has survived through one of the most dangerous places on earth: Beirut, during the Lebanese civil war. The car was sold to the Shah of Iran, then shortly after leaving the Shah’s care, the XNR was found in a Beirut parking garage where a Lebanese car collected found it.
The car was moved to various hiding places in order to keep safe from destruction and thieves.
In 2008, Karim Eddie sent the car to RM Restorations for thorough inspection and whatever work needed to be done. Based on the reports the XNR was built from steel, as most concept cars are made of fiberglass.
After being restored the XNR runs excellently. Due to the fantastic engine the car can easily hit 150 MPH, but no one would want to try to hit that mark since it’s a car with historic and artistic value.
