The most spectacular movie of 2015 is here, based on a true story, American Sniper hit theaters last weekend and hit home for most Americans. Directed by Clint Eastwood and produced by Warner Brothers Studios, this movie shows the life of Chris Kyle as an American sniper and his incredible, yet sad, story.
Making over $100 million at the box office the first four days it was released, this movie was a major hit. Based on the true story of Navy Seal and American sniper Chris Kyle, this film depicts his life as a sharp shooter protecting his comrades and the sad outcome when returning from the war. Bradley Cooper plays the role of Chris Kyle and truly brings the life of Kyle back on the screen to tell his incredible story.
Serving in four tours in Iraq, Kyle shows the true meaning an American soldier as well as the meaning of “never leave a comrade behind.” While in Iraq, Kyle becomes the greatest US sniper in American history. Chris Kyle’s job as a sniper is to protect his fellow comrades with the pinpoint accuracy he has, but this gets him a hefty price on his head. He is wanted dead by the enemy but is determined to not be taken alive. Kyle serves as a sniper for nine years, starting in 1999, and racks over 155 confirmed kills earning him the nickname “Legend”. After a long 9 years of fighting Kyle is honorably discharged and returns to home.
After being discharged, Chris Kyle returns to the town he was raised in, Odessa, Texas. There his wife and two kids welcome him back. Now home, Kyle must fight another war with himself as he cannot seem to leave the war behind. Kyle tries to get himself together but is unexpectedly killed by a fellow veteran at a shooting range(which is not shown in the movie.)
The film was made to honor this true American soldier for his service and the lives and nation he protected. The life of Chris Kyle will never be forgotten and this movie will alway serve as a lesson to appreciate those who are in combat and the protection they give us.
