Round one is over.

On the right side, No. 1 “Hereditary” crushed No. 8 “Candyman” and will face off against North Korean challenger No. 4 “Train to Busan.” Then, No. 3 “28 Days Later” will take on No. 7 “The Strangers.”
Let the round 2 quarterfinals begin!
What is the movie “Get Out” about? The movie is about a man who meets his girlfriend’s family, who end up being very racist, which results in a series of disturbing events leading to something you can’t imagine. Directed by Jordan Peele (“US,” “Nope”), this movie is on another level. The cinematography is amazing and, at some points, strangely beautiful. There is a part where the main character, Chris, falls into “The Sunken Place,” that will stick with you; and Daniel Kaluuya’s emotional performance will, too. The way Peele directed this movie is purely psychological, so you don’t know what will happen, and the way he makes the characters so real.
Horror movies are always scary when set in a a far fetched fictional setting, like a zombie apocalypse. But how are you supposed to keep your composure when a movie is set in a house just like yours? Even further than that, a bedroom just like yours where you’re supposed to find comfort and rest? Almost seems like the same things that are happening in the movie could happen to you too. “Paranormal Activity” is about a couple dealing with a supernatural being invading their home that becomes progressively more aggressive each night. It’s found footage style makes it feel more human too, as the characters interact with the camera in a way as if it’s not actually a movie. Watching this movie suddenly makes you feel conscious about leaving your feet peaking out your blanket at night, or when you hear your door creak slightly… and were those footsteps you just heard?! Good luck having a good night’s sleep after watching “Paranormal Activity.”
Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
