Halloween does not have a shortage of great movies with terrific soundtracks. This week, Bella highlights a few classics.

Halloween is right around the corner. People are looking for movies to watch to get them excited for this holiday. Movies that make you wanna dress up in your costume two weeks early. But most importantly, movies that have a great soundtrack. These are some of my top picks from a few Halloween movies with the best soundtracks.

“Oogie Boogie’s Song” – A Nightmare Before Christmas

This is one of the best movies you can watch if you’re looking for one that has both that Halloween feel and great music. It’s a classic when it comes to this time of year. One of my favorite songs is “Oogie Boogie’s Song.” It has a catchy beat, and I look forward to that song everytime I watch the movie. But “Oogie Boogie” isn’t the only great song to be found here. Danny Elfman’s soundtrack is filled with tons of great songs you can listen to over and over.

“I Put a Spell on You – Hocus Pocus

If you haven’t watched this movie yet, you simply haven’t had the whole spooky season experience. At the time “Hocus Pocus” was released in 1993, it was a huge hit, and overtime has become a Halloween staple. A sequel was released last month, but we’ll come back to that later. “I Put a Spell on You” is the main song in the movie. It was written in 1956 by blues singer Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, but has been covered a number of times over the years, most notably by the Sanderson Sisters. It was also recently went viral on TikTok.

“Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” – Beetlejuice

“Beetlejuice” is one of those movies that has the best songs. The songs in this movie always make me want to put up decorations and light candles in every room. It has classic and fun songs to listen to, most of them performed by singer Harry Belafonte. “Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)” is one of the most memorable songs from this film. A few bars from this one might make you actually feel possessed by a spirit of fun!

“Sirens of the Sea” – Coraline

If you get creeped out easily, you might wanna watch “Coraline” with a buddy. The soundtrack in this is one of my favorites. The creepy score by Bruno Coulais is a journey all its own, packed with eerie sounds and dark melodies. The standout song is “Sirens of the Sea,” a demented sea shanty sung by Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French.

“One Way or Another” – Hocus Pocus 2

“Hocus Pocus” is a classic when it comes to Halloween movies. It did so well they had to make a sequel (30 years later, but still . . .). “Hocus Pocus 2” has the same vibe as the first movie, but this time they used different songs, like a great cover of Blondie’s “One Way or Another.” They also went viral on TikTok because of the movie’s version of the songs. If you haven’t watched it yet you should. It’s currently streaming on Disney+.
