Peter Molyneux, an English video game designer and game programmer, posted a survey online during the end of December, revealing results of a poll for the most anticipated video game of 2013 by game developers. Grand Theft Auto V, Rockstar Game’s long-awaited follow up to 2008’s Grand Theft Auto IV that sold more than 25 million copies to date, got most of the votes by big-name game developers.
Grand Theft Auto is an open world action-adventure video game. GTA V is the fifteenth game in the Grand Theft Auto series overall to be released since 1997. GTA V was first announced on October 25th, 2011 and was speculated to be released by the end of 2012. Rockstar Games later announced that the game will be released in the spring of 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A release for the PC and Wii U is being considered by Rockstar but has yet to be officially announced.
GTA V is to be set in the fictional city of Los Santos and its “surrounding hills, countryside, and beaches”, largely based on the county of Los Angeles —encompassing the franchise’s largest playable world to date, being bigger than the worlds of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Grand Theft Auto IV, and another Rockstar game, Red Dead Redemption combined.
The game also features three player-controlled protagonists in the single-player story mode, whose stories interconnect as they complete missions together. Once outside the mission, the player can swap between the protagonists to explore the game. And if you’re into cars, you’re in luck because the game will feature more vehicles than any other Grand Theft Auto yet, including a variety of cars, trucks, motorcycles, helicopters, planes, ATVs, and jet skis.
Overall, the game will most likely wind up as one of 2013’s best games and according to Rockstar, Grand Theft Auto V is destined to be their biggest open world game to date.
