Link Crew steps up with new year plans

What makes Colton High such a great place to attend? If you guessed LINK CREW, you’re right.  Not only is some of our school staff amazing but our student body is getting better and better one synergy at a time.

Link Crew is a class that teaches students to be leaders, with Social Studies teacher  Mike Esquivel leading the way this year’s  students are making an impact. AVID seniors started off their last year of high school with a synergy that Esquivel agreed went extremely well. Seniors Maria Chavira and Celeste Negrete said they were mentally but not emotionally prepared for the first synergy as Link Crew leaders.  The students prepared with hours of training and a two hour synergy to give them a feel of what it would be like. Hearing a few classmates balloon stories brought some students closer and helped them realize how the first synergy would be.

These leaders’ main goals are to help the students of Colton High. Alex Toledo and Joseph Rivera both agree that they want to help freshman to do better than they did their freshman year.  Cristal Saucedo  said, “ I noticed that it helped out a lot of kids.”  Helping students go down the right path is what Link Crew is all about and all the students realize that.

Esquivel loved how the previous synergy with the AVID seniors went but he would just change a few things such as the lunch and beverages provided for everyone. “Every student has their own personality and there are different types of personalities this year compared to last year and they are highly motivated,” said Esquivel as he proudly talked about his group of leaders. “They are coming together as a group and willing to do anything to help out at Colton High School and I greatly appreciate that. “

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
