Oh “Snap”! Another Snapchat Update!

Millions of people use social media apps on their phones or electronic devices every day, and those social media app every so often need updating to improve the quality of the app. These updates done on these social media apps, whether it be bad or good, are always questioned by the users.
Recently Snapchat has been given an update that changed the layout as well as added/changed special features on the app. The app now has a feature where you can view ads from The National Geographic Channel, the Discovery Channel, Food Channel, CNN and many more. The update also took off the “best friends” feature on the app where you were able to see who each person sent pictures to the most. This could possibly cause problems between people, or those suspicious partners/significant others.

Snapchat has blown up since it’s first launch in 2011 and now this social media app is stretching out to other major media/informational companies to make itself even bigger. To do this the Snapchat opened up the new section called “Discover” filled with ads and media to entertain/inform people. In this discover section you can see advertisement for the various programs listed before. The “Discover” section of the app is purely for the Snapchat users viewing pleasure and can be viewed will a click of a button or tap of your screen.

The layout of the app was also given an update which had a neutral reaction with the Snapchat users. Not many people cared for the new layout because it didn’t affect the overall entertaining features of the app.

Another major update or degrade was the removing of the best friends feature, which caused many people react in a bad way. The reason for this bad reaction again was because of suspicious partners. You can say some people just don’t trust their other partner on social media, kind of like jealousy. Some users even said they liked the removing of this feature because of the jealousy that came with it. Colton High School senior Hector Morua says,“Yes i like it because a lot of people get jealous.” This feature may not return so jealous users will just have to learn to trust their friends or partners a little more.

Whether Snapchat users like the update or not, they will continue to use the app for it’s fun and entertaining features. Snapchat will continue to grow like the successful company it is and we’ll just keep snapping away.
