Emily Ramirez prepares for a big serve during their set against Kaiser’s number one team. She and her partner, Juliette Echauregui took all three of their sets against Kaiser.

Colton, CA—The Kaiser Cats did not purr yesterday, they scratched and left their mark on the Colton Yellowjackets girls’ tennis team, winning their league match 11-7.

Colton’s doubles teams continue to play well. The third ranked team of Emily Ramirez and Juliette Echaregui took all three sets against Kaiser’s teams, 6-0, 6-0, 7-5.

On the singles’ side, once again the Yellowjackets struggled, losing all nine sets to Kaiser’s Cats. Only number one ranked Rita Mariscal was able to turn over the scorecard, taking two games versus Kaiser’s number one player and four games against their number two.

This loss drops the Yellowjackets to 5-4 on the season and 0-2 in San Andreas League play.

Head coach Omar Menjivar definitely sees this as a bit of a slump, but says he’s “going to make some changes to put us in a better position to get back in the winning column.”

The ladies pick up their rackets again next Tuesday at Jurupa Hills.
