Heavyweight showdown between Daniel Cormier and Derrick Lewis

Isaiah Garcia, Reporter

Two weight world champion, Daniel “DC” Cormier, will take on knockout artist, Derrick “the black beast” Lewis. Cormier has reached the very top of the sport that most will never come close too. He has became the second fighter to be a champion in two weight classes at the same time. Lewis has put an impressive win streak together of three straight wins and most of his MMA record by knockout with 18.

The black beast is more than ready. We have seen in the past that he could be losing fights but at any second can KO someone. These two fighters have respect for one another, but Lewis feels like the champ is not taking him serious and thinks it will be an easy fight against him. The champ has came out and said that he takes all his fights serious but feels like he is the superior fighter compared to Lewis. The champ fights at both light heavyweight and heavyweight division, where his is undefeated in heavyweight. Also, where he dethroned the former champ, Stipe Miocic, back in July. He has one loss at light heavyweight.

The question is, though, what will happen Saturday night, November 6. They say in the world of MMA anything could happen and that could not be any more true than heavyweights. They can win any fight with one punch. The heavy weights have always been know to give us some of the best knockouts the MMA world has ever known.

Lewis has came back from trouble before, not in fights, but outside in his normal life. When he was young he got into all sorts of trouble and even went to jail. It is amazing to think he could come back from all of this and be fighting for a word title. But the taste that he will try to beat is tough. His opponent is an olympic wrestler and a two weight world champ. It seems like it’s almost impossible and he doesn’t stand a chance. But all it takes is one punch and the fight could be over. We will see how he does as he tries to receive the highest honor of UFC gold.
