NBA’s Trade Deadline makes Huge Roster Changes

Jesse Gonzales, Reporter

In the 2017 NBA trade deadline, not many stars were moved but there was definitely some roster changes that happened. To start off the first move, the Blazers traded their young and talented big man and a pick to the Nuggets for Jusuf Nurkic and a pick. This traded was the first of many moves. The next big trade happened between the Thunder and the Raptors, when they traded Serge Ibaka to the Raptors for Terrence Ross and a first round pick.

After these trades occurred, what ended up being the biggest trade this year happened. The Sacramento Kings and the New Orleans Pelicans made some huge noise in the league when they traded one of the best big man in the league Demarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi to the Pelicans for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway, and a 1st and 2nd round pick. This trade happened when the star of this trade, Demarcus Cousins, was actually playing in the All-Star game and was announced after the game when he was in a press conference.

The next couple days there weren’t many big trades, but their was a couple good deals that went through. The Lakers traded their highest scorer Lou Williams to the Rockets for Corey Brewer and a first round pick. The 76ers and Mavericks then traded the young Nerlens Noel to the Mavs for Andrew Bogut, Justin Anderson and a first round pick.

One of the last trades that went down was a multi-player trade between the Chicago Bulls and the Oklahoma City Thunder. This trade sent the Bulls’ Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and a second round pick to the Thunder for Cameron Payne, Joffrey Lauvergne, and Anthony Morrow.

All of the current trades were what basically summed up this year’s NBA Trade Deadline.
