The Hive Dominates First Half against Skyhawks

Vincent Lopez, Reporter

The varsity basketball team was playing like a family out there; they were communicating and executing their plays and were able to score. The varsity team came out and did their thing. They were controlling the summit skyhawks all the way to half time. The varsity jackets were frustrating the skyhawks by running their offense correctly with Senior Point Guard, Noah Martinez, who lead the Hive hopefully to their first win of the season; the skyhawks were shooting contested. When the skyhawks shot the ball there was always a man there, and the big man for the hive, Fred Malone and Juan, they were making everything happen for the team by boxing out the opponents and getting rebounds for the team. The hive hustle was the best thing. They were unstoppable; at halftime the score was only 13-9 skyhawks.

After halftime the Hive’s spark disappeared as Summit’s offense started to dominate the whole game. They were still running their offense correctly, but the skyhawks woke up in the 3rd and 4th and were getting rebounds and fast break points from the jackets turnovers from bad passes. This was the factor that won the skyhawks the game from the score 69 to 32 which was an upsetting lost for the yellow jackets as they had the win in grasp but lost.
