Colton high wrestlers make CIF

Wrestling league finals were held on February 1st 2013 at Grand Terrace High. The tournament consisted of four different schools competing against one another in order to qualify for CIF. The tournament turned out great: five Colton high schools wrestlers made CIF individuals and the team itself qualified for CIF duels.

The five wrestlers that made CIF individuals were Michael, Joel, Miguel, Daniel and, Jess. They are all very excited to have made individuals at CIF; they say their hard work should pay off. They will all be preparing to compete for titles and as fellow students of Colton high school their teammates are excited to know their teammates are ready to compete at such high standards. Practices for CIF were held at rialto high school they were practicing with wrestlers from other schools who had also qualified for CIF. These practices had high expectations for these wrestlers they were put into a wrestling room that was hot and nonstop wrestling. These practices were set up this way in order to prepare wrestlers for the intensity of CIF.

CIF Was held at Norte Vista High school with over 300 qualifying CIF wrestlers, this was by far the biggest tournament Colton wrestler had yet encountered. This was a two day tournament in order to give them enough time to wrestle for their own titles. This CIF tournament gave wrestlers two chances, if you lost twice you were automatically out of the tournament. Two of Colton’s wrestlers made it to the second day of CIF, but they were not able to place or receive any titles.

Not all Colton wrestlers are done there is still state championships with wrestler Vanessa, she qualified to go to state! Good job Colton wrestlers! And Good Luck at State!
