Local animal shelter in need of your help

Gabriela Nava, Reporter

Do you love animals, or wonder whatever happened to the animals at the animal shelter? Well, I’m here to tell you what really happened and how you can help these poor little animals. First, you can help by transporting animals. What I mean by this is that you can save animals such as puppies or cats from there foster homes. For the past 10 years, one hundred out of a thousand dogs have been transported from the U.S. Shelter to rescue organizations.

Another thing that you can do to help the shelter is to donate items to your local shelter. You can donate items – towels , chains, leashes, toys, brushes, beds, food, dishes, cleaning supplies, and newspapers. About 25% of the dogs that have been located at these shelters are purebred. If you’re helping the animal shelter, you are helping the animal in need because a lot of pets that were taken to the animal shelter are strays or they are given up for adoption.

Another reason is that if you’re helping or volunteering at the animal shelter you can gain a really good experience if you ever plan to adopt an animal. According to the Defense of Animal, about 200 million animals are being reported killed by hunters in the United States every year. Right now, in this year, about 150 million animals are killed from the food they need every day that is just on land.

Also, according to Do Something, there are 900 to 2,000 new cases every year of animal hoarding in the U.S., with 250,000 animals falling victim. In my opinion, I really wonder why people do not feed their animals or enjoy hitting and abusing their animals. I see animals just like us because they have feelings like we do; they cry like we do, they do human things everyday. Just because they are animals doesn’t mean you should not take care of it. If you are not going to treat it like it’s a living thing then don’t get an animal at all because you’re just putting the poor animal into danger. That being said, please help these animals by volunteering or donating to the animal shelter.
