We got spirit, how about you?

We got spirit yes we do, we got spirit how about… wait we don’t have spirit. It seems to be here at Colton High School the students lack school spirit and involvement in other school related things. So that’s when the questions is asked, “What can we do to make our students more involved?” Can it be that some students might think that being involved and having school spirit is “uncool” or “boring” ? The ratio of students who participate to those who don’t is about 1:20.

A couple students stated that the reason they don’t participate was because they didn’t like the school or they rather do what they want instead of doing school related things. Some students even said that the days, characters, or themes that are picked out by ASB are stupid and not fun to do. It was brought up by another student that the school should do a poll before picking what ASB wants us to participate in that way more people will participate, but that would still involve school activity and would still require the students to participate. At this point it’s thought about should it be made a requirement or should the students who participate be offered extra credit? Although the school has recently started scanning students ID’s for those who participate and for those who show good character traits, these Yellowjackets lack school spirit.
