Oldies will always stay goldies!

We all know the huge change in music today vs. how it was back then in the 1990’s and even before that. What I think music does now is glorify drugs, sex, money, and violence. For example, certain famous rappers like Drake, Tyga, Wiz Khalifa, and many more all have either sex or drugs in their songs. ‘Why?’ is what I’m asking. Teens could answer that question with an answer like ‘because it sounds good,’ or ‘it’s just how it is now,’ but I think there’s more to that than two answers. Now those rappers and singers are not all that bad, some of their music is catchy and the beat sounds good. However, I personally am asking myself ‘why is this music so popular? What about the music back then?’ To be honest I can’t assume that I’d get the answer right away.

Recently, I have been listening to more older music and then comparing it to the music now. The difference is that some old music is about love and a girl they miss, you know what I mean, but then I listen to rap and other artists who talk about girls like they’re trash and harlots. Honestly, I think the girls in those music videos have no respect for themselves at all. But if you compare that to the music back then (oldies to be specific). It’s so much better and I can enjoy it a lot more than music today. No, I’m not trying to say that music now is all bad (there are some that’s good and make you feel like you want to dance to it) but personally it doesn’t intrigue me like oldies do. One song that I like that’s a song today is called “All I Want” by the artist Kodaline and it’s a slow kind of song, but doesn’t talk about drugs and other things. Truthfully, if you want to be romantic with a girl, don’t do it by putting on something that’s talking about getting it on, play an oldie.
