Colton has always been seen as a dysfunctional city but in reality we are a family. With Colton being such a small town, we as a community have grown so close and although there is drama (like most families) we look past it during a time of hurting.
Just recently we lost one of our Yellowjackets to a tragic car crash. The news was heard all over town almost instantly–hearts were broken, tears were shed, and people were grieving. Daniel Martinez was a senior here at Colton High so it hit hard for a lot of our students. This is not our first death at CHS but hopefully it’ll be our last.
Our students took matters into their own hands. They organized many fundraisers for Daniel’s family, such as two car washes, a baseball tournament, donation boxes and a pancake breakfast held here at Colton High.
We at the Pepper Bough would like to thank all the students for helping raise money for the Martinez family and showing your support and love because at the end of the day Colton is one big family full of crazy, outspoken, and big-hearted people.
We lost an Angel but heaven received a Yellowjacket, and heaven just got a little better because of it.
