Fatal accident in Grand Terrace takes 34 year old woman’s life

Do school buses give you a sense of security–a feeling of contentment and easy transportation to or from school? Well, be prepared to be begging for seat belts.

It seems a head on car collision with a school bus in Grand Terrace recently took a 34 year old woman’s life. (Mellissa Ann Smith) Although the bus was not at fault in the accident, being that Mellissa drove her GMC into the bus, it is still unsettling to know something so fatal and traumatizing could happen. There were no children on board when the collision happened but what if there had been? The investigation is still on-going so there are few details that can be verified.  As tragic a thing as this is, it is also a reminder for the “crazy driving” youth to take it easy on the streets. Sometimes teens think they are invincible, but the cold hard truth is… we are not. We must drive with caution and the always present thought that a car can easily take a life if the driver underestimates its power. So please drive safe, and be watchful on the streets.

Our Goal

Recently, the CHS Publications Department experienced a major theft as over $20,000 in photography equipment was stolen from our studio over Spring Break. This included all cameras. Any amount you donate will help rebuild our program. Thank you!
