CEO of McDonald’s suddenly fired

Earlier this week the CEO of Mcdonald’s Steve Easterbrook was fired,Stephan  Easterbrook the former CEO of mcdonalds was kicked off because of a secret relationship with an employee which violated the company’s policy.

The company announced on Sunday that its board removed the CEO Steve Easterbrook for being in a relationship with a female employee, which is a violation of the company’s policy. “A direct or indirect reporting relationship dating or having a sexual relationship.” Which was being monitored through an investigation from the company’s board for a short while which was then deemed a relationship with direct and indirect reports at all levels.

He was replaced with the former Mcdonald’s U.S. president took the position of CEO. His name is Chris Kempczinski. On mondays in a regulatory filing Mcdonalds said Mr. Easterbrook would receive six months of severance pay. Which is around $675,000 dollars about half of his aslery last year. According to company’s guidelines last year 2018. But he will also receive a total of an extra $1 million dollars as well.  

Also on Monday Mcdonalds human resources chief, David Fairhurst also left the company. The day after the company responded saying that his leave was not related to the investigation of Mr. Easterbrooks relationship. 

This isn’t the first time that a CEO of a company has been removed because of a relationship with an employee inside the company. The intel CEO was also removed for the same reason in 2018. Brian Kranich was removed because of a relationship with an employee which is also a violation in the company’s policies. Other companies were Priceline Group inc. and Lululemon Athletica Inc. which had to remove ceos for the same reason.
