New requirement for universities

Some states are shutting down and closing abortion clinics but California is making them more accessible. Recently over the past few months there have been laws being made in certain states where having an abortion is illegal. Alabama being one of those states recently. In California it is legal to have an abortion no mater what part of California they live. But sometimes it is a bit difficult for someone to easily find a place that practices in abortions. It is mostly college students who face this problem. One student from the University of California Santa Barbara, Zoe Murray decide right away she wanted an abortion as soon as she knew she was pregnant. She first went to the student health center that was located on campus hoping they could be able to offer an abortion. Unfortunately when she explained to the nurses that she wanted an abortion they told her they didn’t preform abortions there, she said that the nurses felt just as helpless as she did. One of the nurses gave her papers with some resources but Murray felt helpless either way. Murray ended up going to the nearest abortion clinic but she say she felt very exhausted and alone because she had to experience something like that alone. She isn’t the only one who has gone through something like this in other campuses. Murray and other students who have gone through a similar situation while attending college, have been the reason why a new bill approved by the California state legislature. This bill will cause 32 campuses, that are in the University of California and California State University system, to offer abortion-inducing pills to anyone on campus who will request them. They will still not be allowed to offer surgical abortions, they will only be offered pills that women can take up to 10 weeks of being pregnant. People are glad that they will have more access to help on campus. They are glad future students won’t have to go through the frustrations of feeling helpless and that their school couldn’t help them
