New Zealand shooter charged with 49 counts

New Zealand faced a mass shooting on March 15. The shooting was streamed live on Facebook by the shooter Brenton Tarrant. Tarrant is suspected to be a white supremacist and was charged with an additional 49 counts of murder and is suspected to have acted alone in the shooting. Tarrant opened fire with a semi-automatic weapon and targeted Muslims on March 15, Killing 50 worshippers and wounding dozens of people. According to Reuters, “Tarrant, who was charged with one murder a day after the shooting attack, was also charged with 39 attempted murders on Friday.”
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern labeled the shooting an act of terrorism and quickly introduced new firearm laws which banned semi-automatic weapons. Many people, Worldwide, have praised the Prime Ministers for acting quickly and banning the semi-automatic weapon and for her wearing a headscarf when meeting the mass shooting victims and their families.
