Shooting threat frightens students of Colton High School

Sunday night while I was scrolling through my Instagram feed like usual, I got a text on snapchat from my volleyball group chat, expecting it to be something about our following practices. But what I had received was nothing close to it but it affected everyone in the school, as far as we knew. What I had received was a photo of some guy holding a gun with the caption “___ CHS I’m going out with a bang.” Other captions from students saying “spread this around.” Of course we all started to spread to spreading it around to everyone we could on social media or through text to anyone who didn’t have social media. I even shared it to the two teachers I had through Remind, Mrs.Badillo and Ms.Contreras. It was really helpful being able to contact teachers that we trusted to get the word to the Principal and other people of authority. Then a second photo started going around that I was sent from another student named Jordan Sanchez of an article that said the school was actually Clover High School but I had not trusted the article knowing people would do what they could to get people to go to school. Then finally there was the third image to circle around of a facebook that was a CHS students mother, which had said, “Hey parents of CHS. There is a shooting threat on snapchat for tomorrow. I called the police and they’ve already received calls but if anyone finds out who this person is they need to call. They already have a first name.” This is what really got majority students to stay home the following day, the fact that police had a name already. The following day of the threat my mom had informed me that they had called her while she was at work that the threat had been confirmed by police as fake and the Link Crew account on Instagram had also posted the CPD confirming that as well. We were smart about this fake threat and did what we could to spread the word and get it to and teachers and people of authority in CHS.
